Live surface observations at the station. Values are model-analysed to the exact coordinate at roughly 9 km resolution and refreshed hourly.

Terrain & basin analysis

The shape of the land around you governs almost everything else on this page — where air pools, when inversions form, how wind is steered, and whether pollution clears or lingers. We sample real elevation along eight compass transects out to 25 km and read the landform back to you.

How to read it: a station ringed by higher ground on most bearings is a basin — cold, dense air drains downslope at night and pools, forming temperature inversions that cap the air like a lid and let pollutants accumulate. Open or elevated sites ventilate freely. This is the single most useful lens for interpreting the wind and air-quality sections below.

Direction and strength compiled from the last 7 days plus the coming forecast — enough to reveal the prevailing flow and how terrain from §2 is channeling it.

Humidity & moisture

Relative humidity alone is misleading — it swings with temperature. Dew point and vapour-pressure deficit (VPD) describe the actual moisture in the air, how muggy it feels, and how thirstily the atmosphere pulls water from plants and soil.

Climate baseline

Where today sits against the recent local record. Monthly means below are computed from ~5 years of daily reanalysis for this exact point — observed averages rather than official 30-year normals, but the seasonal fingerprint is the same.

Methods & sources

Everything here is reproducible. Data is fetched live; no figures are pre-baked. Terrain classification is a transparent heuristic, described below so you can judge it yourself.

  1. Weather & surface fields — Open-Meteo Forecast API, ~9 km blended model output; current, hourly (past 7 / next 7 days), daily aggregates. api.open-meteo.com

  6. Landform heuristic — enclosure = bearings whose 25 km peak exceeds the station by >120 m; ≥6 → basin, ≥4 → valley/partly enclosed; station >150 m above surroundings → ridge/summit; relief <80 m → plain/plateau. Stagnation susceptibility blends enclosure with local relief. A guide, not a hazard rating.
  7. US AQI — EPA breakpoints; the reported index is the maximum sub-index across pollutants (the "dominant" pollutant sets the number).
